Of Wonder and of Grace

May 25, 2009

This is Grace – the niece of a very good friend of mine.  Grace was a thrill to photograph, and I knew that one day I needed to paint her – she’s such a gorgeous baby!  Grace is two now…and expecting a little brother soon.  I can’t wait to meet the new little one -

Love is in the Air

April 18, 2009

Wedding photos can be transformed into a true masterpiece.  The gown is painted with great detail - by adding highlights and shadows in just the right places increases the drama of the painting.  By creating a painted background the focus is placed on the bride and the groom and takes away the distraction of the surroundings – just as I’m sure the married couple feels on their special day.

Fine Art comes from Life

April 9, 2009

Portraits aren’t always about “people”.  Some of the finest portraits come from life around us.  This little guy, most likely an egret or ibis of some type, was hanging out around the sea lions at Sea World.  What started out as a really nice snapshot, ended up being one of the most enjoyable portraits I’ve painted.  This would look really nice printed on a canvas for the wall, or even on linen cardstock for personal notecards.  I hope you enjoy this portrait taken from real life!
